Valerie Michelle Ricks received her Master's Degree in Music from Indiana University, and Bachelor's Degree in Music from the University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music.

She has performed the title role of Puccini’s Opera TOSCA at the Boston Court Performing Arts Center in Pasadena, CA . She performed with Opera Pasadena and other Opera Company's leading roles of Princess Pamina in Mozart's Magic Flute, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, and Musetta in La Boheme.

Some of her Concert and Recital Performances have included African Americans for L.A. Opera, Beta Pi Sigma Sorority, UnSung Concert Series Los Angeles, Los Angeles Solo Repertory Orchestra- Soprano Soloist Mendelssohn's Elijah, Stockton Opera Association, Indianapolis Performing Arts Festival, Bear Valley Music Festival.

Her Awards include: The Evelyn Ashmore- Heathe Merit Award In Music, The Warren Atherton Patron Award for Opera Excellence, and an award from the Los Angeles League of Allied Arts.
